Indpendent Filmmaking can be broken down into the following stages:
Development: brainstorm for ideas, write your script, plan your project
Pre-Production: Create storyboards, scout locations, hold auditions for actors, fill crew positions, develop your shot list and plan each shooting day.
Production: This is your actual shoot. Be sure to be ready for anything. Be organized and efficient. If you did your work in Pre-Production you should be able to make your day and get all your shots. Remember to feed your crew and actors and treat everyone with respect.
Post-Production: Editing, sound design, color correction. Distribution: Congrats, you have your finished independent film! Now it is time to upload to HungryFlix to sell your masterpiece. Also look into festival submissions, online contests and creating DVDs.
